The Salon Skills NCEA Vocational Pathways Level 2 programme is designed for learners who have not yet achieved NCEA Level 2 and are interested in a future in hairdressing, barbering, or skincare and cosmetics.

NCEA Level 2 is required before progressing into any Level 3 or above qualifications at BHB Academy. This programme provides a practical and engaging pathway to achieve NCEA Level 2 while building skills and knowledge in your chosen industry. You will complete a combination of theory and hands-on learning, including working with real clients in our hair salon, barbershop, or beauty salon. Learning is active and industry-focused, helping you build confidence, develop professional habits, and gain an understanding of what it’s like to work in the industry.

All training is delivered face-to-face at BHB Academy in our purpose-built, fully equipped training environment, designed to reflect a real commercial setting. You will be supported by experienced tutors who are focused on helping you grow your skills, confidence, and readiness for further study or employment.

The programme runs for approximately 20–26 weeks, depending on your current Record of Learning. This will be discussed with you during your enrolment interview.
